As of 31 Dec 2007, NAHYSOSA havs given 50 Bursaries to the value of over R210,000 and has assisted in the tertiary education of: 18 Commerce Students; 11 Science Students; 7 Law Students; 7 Medical Students; 5 Students in the Arts and 2 in other professions. Education is the process by which we acquire knowledge, skills, habits, values, attitude and it influences the way we think. Education is the pillar of strength in our youth today and each individual should be given an equal opportunity to take advantage of it. The NAHYSOSA Bursary Fund was established in 1998. It embodies all that NAHYSOSA stands for and allows NAHYSOSA the opportunity to give back to the Hellenic Community; that it depends on. It is also a means of maintaining and protecting the interests of our Youth and their future. As Hellenes, our education is a key to helping us develop an appreciation for our cultural heritage and ancestral values. Funds for the Bursary Fund are accumulated from NAHYSOSA functions that occur throughout the year. The bulk of all income raised is used specifically for the Bursary Fund or the Andoni Yerou Medical Assistance Initiave (established in 2003). This means that having well-supported functions is key to the success of helping underprivileged Hellenic Youths. Applicants for the Bursary Fund must meet the following requirements:
All applicants undergo an interview with an independent selection panel. The members of this panel are not on any committee and each application is treated with the strictest confidentiality. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our members and the Hellenic Community, at large, for their support of our functions. Your support has allowed us to assist over 50 Youths across South Africa! We also wish to thank all the individuals who selflessly give of their time and energy to provide a better tomorrow for those less-privileged. For more information or to apply for the Bursary Fund or for Medical Assistance, please contact Soulla on 082-673-0132 or soulla15@hotmail.com. We are always looking for generous sponsors for the Bursary Fund so that we can provide more bursaries to more individuals. |
