EASTERN CAPE HELLENIC YOUTH ASSOCIATION
Hellenic Cypriot Youth Association - HCYA
The Hellenic Cypriot Youth Association represents the Cypriot youth in South Africa. We are affiliated with three umbrella bodies, namely NEPOMAK (international organization standing for Cypriots abroad), NAHYSOSA (National governing organization of South African Hellenic youth committees) and The Brotherhood of Cyprus in South Africa. We strive to achieve union in and amongst the youth in South Africa and work to raise funds for constructive and various causes. We believe in the protection of cultural inheritance of Cyprus and general philanthropic notions which we aim to clarify and enforce with regards to all associated parties. Goals are achieved through means of social liaisons, cultural practice and inter-committee relations. Ultimately we, at HCYA, pride ourselves with the fact that our manner in which we deal with serious matters is more effervescent thus allowing the chance for all youth to participate.

Hellenic Students Association Cape Town
The HSA CT committee of 2011 has a tough reputation to live up to, set by years of extremely hard and diligent work by past committees. The committee’s focus this year will be to make a substantial contribution to the NAHYSOSA Bursary fund as well as strengthen the bond that the Hellenic youth of Cape Town has with its older counterparts within the community. 2011 has been a great year for HSA CT and continues to get better with each day.

Hellenic Students Association Rhodes University - HSA Rhodes
Despite only having several Hellenes who constitute the committee members, HSA Rhodes is one of the largest societies at Rhodes University. The society consists of close to 380 members.
There are four social functions hosted throughout the year as well as the prestigious HSA Rhodes Greek Ball. Social functions afford members the opportunity to interact with committee members who willingly share their knowledge of Greek culture and traditions.
Greek dancing is provided for by committee members, thus enabling non-Greeks the opportunity to participate in Greek culture. Dance practice is put into play on the night of Greek Ball where traditional Greek music is played and enjoyed by all in attendance.
Apart from the social aspect, HSA Rhodes also strives to assist the poverty stricken community of Grahamstown. At least once a term committee members seek to donate clothes to those less fortunate than themselves thanks to initiatives set up by the committee members during our social functions. Through funds raised Easter eggs are given to children at the local hospital who unfortunately cannot be a part of festivities.
HSA Rhodes is on the rise, particularly thanks to NAHYSOSA’s continuous effort this year. It is a society which prides itself on spreading Greek culture and traditions and assisting the community to the best of its ability.

Student Hellenic Association - SHA
The STUDENTS HELLENIC ASSOCIATION OF THE UNIVERSITY OF THE WITWATERSRAND (ΣΥΛΛΟΓΟΣ ΕΛΛΗΝΩΝ ΦΟΙΤΗΤΩΝ) is the oldest affiliate in the NAHYSOSA body and is one of the oldest organizations at Wits. Formed in 1958 by founders Takis Mantis and Kostas Gazidis, SHA has seen its fair share of historic events in the half century since its existence. SHA’s initiatives and motto follow those set by our parent body NAHYSOSA: Unity, Knowledge and Culture
Additionally, we aim to promote Hellenism, our awesome traditions and some legend Greek parties!!

University of Johannesburg Hellenic Association - UJHA
NAHYSOSA UJHA is a university based affiliate member of NAHYSOSA and works in conjunction with them as well as the rest of the affiliates in the Republic of South Africa to unite the Hellenic youth with knowledge, culture, tradition and history about their Hellenic heritage.
